Washington DC (July 2003) As I was flying to Poland from Oregon I had an opportunity to spend four days
in DC, including the 4th of July (American Independence Day). Washington DC is a beautiful city with some
great architecture, parks and museums. There really is a lot to see. But July may not be the best time for
visiting as it's very hot and humid. But on the other hand, there's a lot going on with the 4th of Julycelebrations.
There's crowds of people, parades and fireworks. Security was heavy as well with lots of police and some
military presence. Metal detectors and bag searches at entrances to most public sites like museums or parks
were quite inconvenient for a guy with a backpack. But still it was an interesting trip.
