Ashland (Oregon, USA) is a small town, just a few miles north from California, where I lived for three years (2002-05). It's located in the Cascade Mountains, with a few volcanoes in the area and lots of wilderness. There's a lot of outdoor activities available like hiking, rafting, rock climbing, skiing and snowboarding. It's a very unique town, it has some tourism associated with a quite famous Shakespeare Festival. It's also a place where a lot of wealthy people come to retire, and it has a large student community attending Southern Oregon University. I had a great time living there and here you can find a few pictures of what this area has to offer. Start with this panoramic photo to see a broad view on Ashland. You can also download a 360º view from Pilot Rock (1MB).
